Roethlisberger in serious condition after motorcycle accident

Superbowl champion & Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was in serious but stable condition before he underwent surgery after a motorcycle accident in Pittsburgh this morning. Roethlisberger, 24, was not wearing a helmet.

This is a good story to follow the previous on wearing helmets when operating motorcycles. Current reports say Big Ben is currently in surgery. Lets hope he comes through OK. It sounds like he was a very luck man, the car pulled out in front of him and his head hit the windshield, he also has a broken jaw as well as two injured knees...

Natural Selection - Michigan addresses the motorcycle helmet law

It looks like the Michigan state House panel has approved legislation that would let motorcyclists ride without helmets under certain conditions. This is another step toward this measure reaching the governor's desk for the first time.

The bill passed 10-5 in the House Transportation Committee. It would allow riders who are 21 years and older to ride without a helmet provided they are properly licensed for at least two years or take a safety course. They would also be required to carry $10,000 in personal injury protection insurance.

Motorcyclists are expected to be at the Captiol Wednesday when the House will vote on the subject.

Hearing this news, I look at it as 'natural selection'. If you are dumb enough to ride without a helmet, you can't complain about the concequences...
